Sensor Engineer (Robotics AI)

Location: On-site in Toronto GTA, Canada

Salary: CA$150K–CA$190K total wage range, plus equity

What you will do

• Develop new physical sensors or integrate commercial sensors for robotics data-capture systems.
• Design controlled experiments and build test fixtures to characterize sensitivity, noise, hysteresis, drift, and sample variation.
• Develop calibration and signal-processing methods that convert raw signals into reliable measurements.
• Integrate sensors with readout electronics and synchronized recording systems.
• Validate sensor performance after packaging and repeated use outside the laboratory.
• Document reproducible methods for the hardware engineering team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing or integrating physical sensors.
• Hands-on experience with tactile, force, pressure, or other physical sensors and their underlying sensing physics.
• Laboratory instrumentation and data-acquisition experience, with depth in sensor fabrication and materials testing or readout electronics and system integration.
• Ability to design controlled experiments and distinguish useful signals from noise, fixture effects, and measurement error.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar language for signal processing, analysis, and visualization.
• Knowledge of calibration, measurement uncertainty, and the effects of packaging on sensor performance and durability.
