Senior Test and Validation Engineer (Robotics)

hirify.global develops commercially scalable and safe hirify.global robots, including the HMND-01 platform for real industrial environments.

What you will do

• Design and execute test procedures for actuators, mechanisms, grippers, robotic hands, and integrated assemblies.
• Build and maintain fixtures, test rigs, and automated hardware-software validation systems.
• Calibrate sensors and control loops, characterize torque, friction, inertia, backlash, stiffness, thermal behavior, and efficiency.
• Conduct lifecycle, stress, thermal, environmental, dynamic, and endurance testing.
• Analyze results, prepare test reports, maintain documentation and results databases, and drive engineering feedback loops.
• Collaborate with mechanical design, firmware, controls, manufacturing, and system integration teams on requirements, verification, commissioning, and failure diagnostics.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience with robotic hardware, controls, actuator characterization, and system commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, encoders, force/torque sensors, instrumentation, mechanical tools, and laboratory prototyping.
• Experience with calibration, parameter identification, modeling, mathematical optimization, safety testing, FMEA, and reliability analysis.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for data capture, analysis, and model fitting, with object-oriented programming experience.
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems and LabVIEW, plus strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with strain-wave or planetary gearing, custom robotic actuators, robotic hands, grippers, underactuated mechanisms, or tendon-driven systems.
• Understanding of commercial BLDC drivers and low-level control development for electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of EtherCAT, Ethernet, or DS402 motion control.
• Experience supporting integrated arm or leg bring-up on larger robotic platforms.
