Senior Designer

Location: Remote within the United States

What you will do

• Own and evolve information architecture for a large, content-rich digital portal, including navigation, site maps, hierarchy, labeling, taxonomy, and user flows.
• Lead information architecture initiatives for high-traffic pages, features, and cross-portal experiences.
• Plan and conduct user research, including usability testing, tree testing, card sorting, and generative research.
• Synthesize research, analytics, surveys, and stakeholder input into actionable design recommendations.
• Create site maps, user flows, wireframes, concepts, and prototypes within an established design system.
• Present design rationale to government stakeholders and product teams, mentor designers, and identify delivery risks and mitigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent additional experience.
• At least 2 years focused on information architecture or equivalent responsibilities, with a portfolio demonstrating navigation structures, taxonomies, user flows, and wireframes.
• Experience designing large, complex, or content-rich websites, applications, or digital portals.
• Experience conducting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative user research and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency with modern design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro, plus experience working within an established design system.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Understanding of accessible and inclusive design practices is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal government digital services, healthcare, benefits, patient-facing products, or complex service-oriented experiences.
• Experience with large-scale portals, content ecosystems, tree testing, card sorting, and web analytics.
• Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
• Experience conducting research within government review, approval, recruitment, or participant-management processes.
