Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Platform and Execution Model)

Location: Seattle, WA (preferred), McLean, VA, or remote within the United States. Some travel to customers may be required.

Salary: $180,000–$240,000 per year

hirify.global is an incubation firm building technology-led companies in healthcare, cybersecurity, and national security. Trase Systems develops AI platforms for deploying, managing, and optimizing enterprise AI and agentic applications in regulated industries.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own core Trase OS execution components, including state machines, lifecycles, resource models, and failure semantics.
• Build distributed systems that remain predictable across retries, restarts, partial failures, and concurrent execution.
• Develop platform APIs and SDKs connecting workflows, agents, tools, and product surfaces, including versioning and compatibility.
• Implement correctness and reliability mechanisms such as idempotency, deterministic replay, compensating actions, rate limits, backpressure, sharding, and workload isolation.
• Build security, governance, observability, and explainable audit trails into the platform.
• Lead design reviews, testing, performance baselines, SLOs, incident response, postmortems, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building distributed or platform systems, including architecture across teams or domains.
• 4+ years owning mission-critical runtimes or workflow and orchestration systems.
• Deep expertise in durable execution, state machines, event sourcing, saga or compensation patterns, idempotency, and delivery semantics.
• Production experience with security and governance, including authentication, RBAC, audit, and policy enforcement.
• Hands-on observability experience, including Grafana or equivalent and trace correlation across asynchronous boundaries.
• Strong systems design skills across storage, queues, schedulers, event-driven architectures, modern programming languages, containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have

• Experience with Temporal, Cadence, AWS Step Functions, Argo, Airflow, or serverless runtimes.
• Experience with OPA, secrets management, KMS, PII/PHI controls, or multi-tenant isolation.
• Experience with ML/LLM evaluation frameworks, tool and plugin architectures, or model governance.
• Government, healthcare, HIPAA, or audit-readiness experience.
