Controls Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States. Work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on the role and business needs. Travel to customer sites abroad may be required.

Base salary: $105,593.46–$142,861.74 USD annually, plus an eligible annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop high-performance robot control platforms for semiconductor wafer handling.
• Design motion control algorithms using digital filtering and control theory.
• Tune feedback parameters on robot hardware and characterize dynamics, stability, throughput, payload vibration, and overall performance.
• Perform design verification testing, software configuration, documentation, and release activities.
• Apply robotics and control theory using tools such as MATLAB.
• Travel to customer sites abroad to integrate robots when needed.

Requirements

• Knowledge of control theory, dynamic systems, robotics theory, and vibration analysis.
• Experience or relevant coursework in controls, dynamic systems, or robotics.
• Competency in MATLAB and strong C/C++ programming skills for real-time systems.
• Understanding of electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
• Ability to use dynamic signal analyzers and general laboratory equipment.
• BSEE or BSME with 3+ years of experience, or MSEE, MSME, or Ph.D. with 1+ years of experience.

Nice to have

• MATLAB controls toolboxes experience.
• Object-oriented programming and Java integration experience.
• Multithreaded and interrupt-driven programming experience.
