Staff Robotics Simulation Engineer, Hardware (Robotics): Performing structural and dynamic simulations for robotic components and subsystems with an accent on FEA, CFD, thermal analysis, and hardware validation. Focus on developing simulation models, analyzing actuator and system-level thermal behavior, automating workflows with Python or MATLAB, and solving electromechanical hardware challenges with design and manufacturing teams.

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $135,000–$167,000 base pay per year

Company

hirify.global develops mobile robots and automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.

What you will do

  • Perform static and dynamic FEA on robotic components and subsystems to support design optimization.
  • Learn and apply CFD and thermal-structural interaction methods for actuator and system-level thermal analysis.
  • Participate in physical testing using strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal imaging to improve simulation model fidelity.
  • Execute standardized simulation workflows and contribute to automation scripts in Python or MATLAB.
  • Document analysis results and communicate findings in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to resolve hardware challenges.

Requirements

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field; new graduates with strong simulation research are welcome.
  • Alternatively, an MS with 2–3+ years of hardware simulation experience or a BS with 5+ years of electromechanical hardware simulation and analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience applying FEA and dynamics principles to real-world engineering problems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with a major FEA tool such as Ansys, Abaqus, or Nastran.
  • Ability to manipulate and simplify CAD data for simulation meshing, and to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Python or MATLAB for data processing and task automation.
  • Experience or interest in CFD, advanced dynamics, and multidisciplinary simulation.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced research and development environment focused on robotics and industrial automation.
  • Senior mentorship and opportunities to expand from FEA into CFD and thermal-fluids analysis.
  • Work involving hands-on physical testing and direct hardware implementation.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
