Controls Engineer (Automation)

Location: 101 Industrial Drive, New Bern, North Carolina, United States

Salary: $70,000–$110,000 USD per year, plus participation in an annual bonus plan or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and program electrical controls for custom assembly applications, including hardware specifications, electrical bills of materials, integration, and schematics.
• Support automated manufacturing technology involving robotics, vision systems, motion control, sensors, variable frequency drives, and semi-automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment with maintenance and engineering personnel while applying machine safety codes and wiring standards.
• Support new product development, assembly and testing solutions, facility improvements, and strategic engineering projects.
• Collaborate with integrators, machine builders, engineering groups, operations, and IT on automation equipment, shop-floor data systems, and outsourced panel construction.
• Manage controls documentation and revisions, develop technology applications, and prepare capital expenditure requests for controls hardware.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least two years of controls design, panel construction, and PLC programming experience is preferred, ideally in a high-volume assembly environment.
• Knowledge of robotics, motion control, vision systems, digital and analog sensors, variable frequency drives, and automated equipment integration.
• Functional knowledge of machine safety, wiring standards, relevant codes, network architecture, and infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Work is based at the New Bern, North Carolina facility.
