Senior Mechatronics Engineer (Motion Control)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite engineering role

Base pay: $117,800–$172,800 annually

Develops semiconductor inspection tools, metrology systems, process solutions, and computational analytics for chip, wafer, reticle, and advanced packaging manufacturing.

What you will do

• Tune controllers, characterize performance, and troubleshoot a nanometer-level precision multi-axis motion stage.
• Define stage-testing requirements and develop Python data-processing tools.
• Characterize dynamic performance at the inspection-station level through testing and analysis.
• Define and drive improvements to motion systems based on observed behavior.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to bring prototype systems online and test complex calibrations and algorithms.
• Support systems through Alpha testing, delivery, and Beta testing at customer sites.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in a related engineering discipline preferred, with 5+ years of precision motion-control experience and hands-on integration, testing, and optimization of complex mechanisms.
• Alternatively, minimum qualifications include a doctorate with no related experience, a master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of control theory, system dynamics, and data analytics.
• Experience with Python for data analytics.
• Experience using Matlab and Simulink for controller development.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment and cleanroom work is preferred.
