Senior Electrical Systems Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite role with 15–20% travel required.

What you will do

• Design and sustain electrical systems for semiconductor process equipment, including advanced etch and deposition platforms.
• Specify and integrate power supplies, sensors, relays, circuit protection devices, heaters, temperature-control hardware, and motion-control elements.
• Develop emergency stops, safety interlocks, grounding systems, and other equipment protection strategies.
• Lead product safety and regulatory compliance initiatives across multiple equipment platforms.
• Conduct design reviews, compliance assessments, gap analyses, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations.
• Partner with certification bodies and testing organizations and support field electrical troubleshooting escalations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience designing electrical systems for semiconductor, industrial automation, manufacturing, or similar electromechanical equipment.
• Experience designing equipment to regulatory standards such as 60204-1, NFPA 79, and UL 508A.
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power distribution, controls, and electrical safety.
• Experience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical components and subsystems.
• Availability to work onsite in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with 15–20% travel.

Nice to have

• Experience working with third-party assessors to obtain and maintain CE and EMC certifications.
• Experience designing safety interlock circuits to ISO 13849 performance levels.
• Working knowledge of SEMI S2, CE, IEC, NFPA, UL, ISO 13849, and related product compliance standards.
• Experience with machine safety risk assessments, hazard analyses, ISO 12100, FMEA, and Sistema.
