TL;DR
Technical Consultant - Mission Critical & Industrials (Power Systems): Leading complex electrical power engineering projects, including detailed design, power system studies, QA/QC, cost estimation, and technical standards with an accent on high-voltage systems, substation engineering, and client-facing technical leadership. Focus on reviewing one-line and control schematics, analyzing short circuit and relay coordination studies, mentoring engineers, and supporting proposals and field services.

Location: Fully remote within the United States or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado. Field work may be required, with typical travel of 15–35%. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Salary: $100,000–$175,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex mission-critical, industrial, and substation engineering projects.
  • Perform or review electrical power system designs, including one-line and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, SCADA, communications, grounding, equipment specifications, cable routing, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare and review power system models and studies covering short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, grounding, and harmonic analysis.
  • Lead technical standards, QA/QC practices, and quality reviews across engineering, design, drafting, and field services.
  • Support proposals, RFP interpretation, client meetings, business development, technical conferences, and industry content.
  • Train, coach, and mentor engineers while supporting field inspection, testing, and construction supervision when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Deep experience with high-voltage power systems and an interest in training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Proficiency with PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM, Milsoft, SEL Relaying, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.
