Staff Electrical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, USA; lab and cross-functional presence preferred, with occasional warehouse and site work and travel to customer sites, contract manufacturers, and test facilities.

Base salary: $125,000–$171,600 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Lead complex electrical design across boards, harnesses, subsystems, power distribution, sensing, compute, grounding, and interfaces.
• Drive robotic hardware from architecture and schematics through PCB layout, prototyping, design verification, design freeze, production release, and sustaining.
• Design and review schematics and PCB layouts in Altium, including stackup, placement, routing, signal and power integrity, EMC-aware layout, and DFM.
• Lead the Product Development Process, including requirements, phase gates, design reviews, verification, and release documentation.
• Work with mechanical, firmware, controls, safety, PLM, manufacturing, and contract-manufacturing partners to qualify and release products.
• Plan and execute validation, investigate lab and field failures, lead corrective design actions, and support bring-up, installation, and failure analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of electrical design experience taking products from concept to production.
• Expertise in Altium schematic capture and high-end PCB layout design.
• Strong experience with automation robotics, mobile robots, AGVs/AMRs, or automotive electronic systems in demanding environments.
• Experience with electronics integration, EMC/EMI debugging, grounding, power distribution, sensors, DfX, PLM, BOMs, ECOs, and contract manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently in a formal phase-gate process, communicate complex technical concepts, and lead cross-functional design efforts.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with Functional Safety, SIL, ISO 13849, or IEC 61508.
• Experience qualifying connectors, sensors, power devices, or compute modules for robotics, automation, or automotive-class environments.
