Director, Assistant Controller (SaaS)

Location: Hybrid, San Francisco; candidates located in the Bay Area are strongly preferred. Salary tiers also cover other US locations.

Salary: $251,800–$314,600 USD annually in San Francisco, New York City, and Seattle; $218,900–$273,600 USD annually in other US locations.

What you will do

• Lead the accounting function and develop a scalable controllership framework.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the core Accounting GL team.
• Manage the year-end external audit, including PBC requests, substantive testing, and audit committee deliverables.
• Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and governance for IPO readiness.
• Partner with the Controller on technical accounting, financial strategy, process improvement, automation, and AI tooling adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation required.
• 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience; SaaS experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience owning month-end close and managing external audits end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience hiring, developing, and managing accounting teams.
• Working knowledge of ASC 606 and familiarity with ASC 350-40 and ASC 718; experience with NetSuite, Zip, Stripe, or comparable platforms is beneficial.
