Safety Manager (Construction): Ensuring compliance with corporate, project, and OSHA health and safety regulations across Michigan construction projects with an accent on hazard identification, safety training, inspections, and incident analysis. Focus on developing site-specific safety plans, investigating workplace incidents, issuing permits, and enforcing corrective actions across heavy and highway, infrastructure, water/wastewater, and industrial construction.

Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States. Workplace: On-site; work is performed in the office and field across Michigan project sites, including possible day, night, and weekend work.

What you will do

  • Monitor, implement, and adapt health and safety procedures across corporate and project operations.
  • Provide employee safety orientations, training, coaching, and support for daily job hazard analyses.
  • Conduct jobsite inspections across Michigan construction projects, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze incident reports, injury statistics, case studies, and project phases to identify and control hazards.
  • Prepare site-specific safety plans, issue permits such as confined-space and hot-work permits, and maintain hazard reporting documentation.
  • Advise office executives, project managers, field staff, and the Corporate Safety Committee on safety compliance and improvements.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of construction safety, safety management, or safety technician experience on construction projects.
  • Experience in heavy and highway, water/wastewater, infrastructure, and/or industrial construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of current construction and industrial safety requirements, including OSHA regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, HSE, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required. A valid driver’s license is also required.
  • Strong communication, hazard recognition, incident investigation, analysis, and corrective-action skills.

  • CSP certification.
  • CHST certification.
