Security & Risk Analyst (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States

Base salary: $69,600–$87,000 annually, plus a discretionary bonus and total rewards package.

What you will do

• Monitor real-time transactions, user activity, and system alerts to identify fraud indicators.
• Investigate card-not-present fraud, account takeovers, identity misuse, promotion abuse, and other marketplace risks.
• Analyze transaction data to identify fraud trends, behavioral anomalies, and systemic vulnerabilities.
• Recommend rule, threshold, workflow, dashboard, and review-queue improvements to reduce fraud losses and chargebacks.
• Partner with Security, Data, Product, Engineering, and Operations on fraud mitigation and preventive controls.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, support dispute evidence and compliance requirements, and educate teams on fraud awareness.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in fraud detection, risk analysis, or payments fraud in a high-volume marketplace, fintech, or e-commerce environment.
• Strong analytical skills and experience using dashboards, fraud tools, and/or SQL to analyze large datasets.
• Experience with payment processors, chargeback workflows, and evidence collection.
• Familiarity with online payment systems, account authentication, and transaction monitoring.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, documentation, and independent problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS and other compliance standards.
