Special Projects Lead (Robotics & AI)

Location: New York, United States; on-site

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits

What you will do

• Develop scientific programmes by translating commercial and scientific objectives into practical plans, milestones, and operating requirements.
• Build and manage partnerships with scientific organisations, including agreements, onboarding, and ongoing performance.
• Launch initiatives by establishing workflows, coordinating equipment and resources, training teams, and resolving readiness gaps.
• Own operating performance across quality, throughput, schedules, and cost while identifying bottlenecks and improving delivery.
• Coordinate partner teams, vendors, logistics, and resources across locations.
• Evaluate opportunities, test assumptions, and make operating decisions based on delivery evidence.

Requirements

• Scientific fluency from laboratory experience or sustained work with experimental scientists.
• Experience launching and running programmes or operations with responsibility for delivery, quality, and cost.
• Experience managing external partnerships and coordinating people, vendors, and operational resources.
• Ability to prioritise work, evaluate trade-offs, and make sound decisions under uncertainty.
• Willingness and ability to execute directly and resolve practical operational problems.
• Ability to work on-site in New York, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in scientific or laboratory operations, research partnerships, or technical special projects.
• Founder or early-stage startup experience with substantial operating responsibility.
• Experience building and improving operations across multiple sites or international partner teams.
