Research Associate, Automation & Assays (Biotechnology)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States

Base salary: $72,000–$80,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for annual short-term and long-term incentive awards.

What you will do

• Run routine biochemical, ELISA, and cell-based assays on automated liquid handling systems.
• Follow SOPs, Standard Operating Environments, and assay procedures while escalating deviations and unexpected results.
• Prepare reagents, buffers, assay-ready plates, and maintain cell cultures under established protocols.
• Document experimental work in Benchling according to data integrity and good documentation practices.
• Manage laboratory inventory, reagent and consumable restocking, equipment upkeep, sample receipt, labeling, and storage.
• Generate basic data summaries, present results, and support a safe, compliant, and organized laboratory.

Requirements

• High-school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life-science field is preferred.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with wet-lab diagnostics, precision work, and SOP-driven execution.
• Proficiency in accurate pipetting, dilutions, and basic solution preparation.
• Strong attention to detail, data integrity, and accurate record-keeping skills.
• Ability to prioritize routine work and operate reliably both independently and within a fast-paced team.
• Familiarity with plate-based assays and automated equipment is advantageous.
