Research Associate II, High-Throughput Cell Biology

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Salary: $70,000–$87,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Execute high-throughput experiments, including labware and reagent loading, system startup and shutdown, and monitoring for protocol deviations.
• Perform routine cell culture, media preparation, molecular biology procedures, and equipment maintenance.
• Culture and differentiate iPSCs or other relevant cell systems that model disease-related phenotypes.
• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot experimental protocols and SOPs to improve throughput, reliability, and efficiency.
• Document experimental outcomes in detailed lab notebooks and communicate findings to the broader team.
• Collaborate with scientists on experimental design and analysis while independently planning and executing assigned work.

Requirements

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.
• 2–4 years of hands-on research experience.
• Experience culturing primary cells, non-adherent cells, and immortalized cell lines.
• Strong organization and attention to detail across multi-step, multi-day workflows, including documentation and reagent management.
• Ability to work independently and willingness to learn new technologies and instrumentation.
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago, Illinois.

Nice to have

• Flow cytometry experience, including sample preparation and instrument operation.
• Next-generation sequencing library preparation or single-cell genomics experience, particularly with 10x Genomics.
• Experience with lentiviral vector production and transduction.
• Experience culturing iPSCs, lab automation, or liquid handling.
