Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: London-based, with hybrid work from the London office typically two to three days per week. Flexible work abroad options are also available through the work abroad scheme.

What you will do

• Lead the product engineering organisation through multiple team leads, owning delivery, technical quality, and people outcomes across frontend, backend, mobile, and quality engineering.
• Contribute code and review pull requests to improve agentic tooling, the spec-driven development framework, and developer experience.
• Set and enforce engineering standards across code review, testing, observability, and architecture.
• Roll out agentic and spec-driven development practices, track their impact on delivery throughput and engineering quality, and refine them with the engineering guild.
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineers and engineering managers while owning performance management, career development, and team-lead coaching.
• Partner with product and executive stakeholders on roadmap planning, delivery risks, technical trade-offs, and engineering-wide initiatives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in engineering management and 2+ years managing engineering managers or team leads across multiple teams.
• Deep technical knowledge across modern software engineering, with production experience in Python and TypeScript.
• Practical experience integrating, evaluating, or productionising machine-learning systems and shipping ML-powered features.
• Current hands-on experience with agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience with recruiting, technical interview design, performance management, and development of engineering managers and team leads.
• Must be London-based and able to work from the London office on a hybrid basis.

• Experience with marketplace or two-sided platforms, on-demand or field services, logistics, gig economy, B2B fintech and payments, vertical SaaS, or workflow and project-management tooling.
