Director of Engineering (AI)

Location: Remote or in-office in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, or Ireland; remote work from other European locations may be supported subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.

Salary: 180,000 base in EUR, GBP, or CHF, plus a stock option plan.

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams delivering high-impact, user-facing projects focused on acquisition, activation, and revenue growth.
• Break complex initiatives into staged plans with predictable timelines and clear trade-offs between speed, experimentation, and scalability.
• Partner with product, data, design, and R&D to prioritize high-impact work and productionise research.
• Build a reliable Agents Platform with consistent uptime, low latency, and broad support for model and voice types.
• Scale the engineering organization by identifying skill gaps, recruiting talent, and supporting career development.
• Monitor team performance, improve execution, and manage difficult conversations with clarity and empathy.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams delivering high-impact, user-facing projects, ideally for 4+ years.
• Experience scaling teams and aligning engineering work with product and revenue goals.
• Strong ability to operate in fast-paced, experiment-driven environments with clear business metrics.
• Experience tracking performance and helping team members improve their output and impact.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills across product, data, and design.
• Engineering background building scalable SaaS products.
