Senior NPI Materials Planner (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own buy-side material planning for prototype and early production builds, translating demand and build plans into prioritised purchasing requirements.
• Maintain material readiness from engineering release through delivery, including BOM revisions, variants, approved substitutes, ECOs, lead times, safety stock, and order policies.
• Run regular MRP-style planning, manage exceptions, and provide Procurement with weekly material plans, purchase requirements, shortage analysis, and recovery options.
• Lead clear-to-build reviews and communicate which material and configurations are available for each planned build.
• Coordinate demand for robot builds, repair packs, service spares, hot spares, and customer pilots across prototype, production, and contract manufacturing activities.
• Develop planning processes, tools, and data with Business Transformation, Engineering, Procurement, Inventory, Warehouse, Logistics, and Manufacturing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in supply planning, materials planning, or buy-side planning within complex manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with prototype, NPI, low-volume/high-mix, and early production environments involving incomplete BOMs, substitutions, shortages, rework, and frequent design changes.
• Strong understanding of demand planning, production schedules, MRP logic, netting, pegging, time fences, lot sizing, safety stock, and BOM-driven material requirements.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Dynamics, as well as spreadsheet, BI, or MES-based planning without a full ERP.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, plus SQL and a BI tool such as Power BI or Looker; familiarity with PLM and BOM management tools.
• Ability to influence Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Finance, make decisions with incomplete information, and work hands-on alongside the build team.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting contract manufacturers, multi-site planning, cross-border movements, and customs clearance.
• APICS / ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
• Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Knowledge of robotics, AI, electromechanical, or electronics products.
