Senior Associate Scientist, Process Development

Location: On premise in Sanford, North Carolina, United States. Flexible hours, shift work, or weekend work may be required.

Annual base salary: $68,600–$114,300, plus eligibility for a 7.5% bonus target.

What you will do

• Perform process scale-down studies supporting the manufacturing of therapeutic vaccines and other drug substances.
• Implement technology and continuous process development to improve manufacturing processes.
• Act as a technical expert for manufacturing methods and recommend improvements in reliability, cost, safety, compliance, and environmental performance.
• Troubleshoot established processes and support product transfers, new product development, and cost improvement projects.
• Plan and execute experiments, analyze and present data, and solve moderately complex technical problems.
• Represent MSAT in cross-functional project teams and contribute to technical writing and review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or an MBA/MS with any level of experience.
• Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong chemistry knowledge and the ability to perform laboratory work safely.
• Experience with complex data analysis, technical troubleshooting, and independently planning and conducting experiments.
• Proficiency with MS Office, complex laboratory instrumentation, and laboratory software.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with bioconjugation chemistry, normal flow filtration, and tangential flow filtration of proteins or polysaccharides.
• Knowledge of international CMC regulatory requirements and Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Experience with statistical experimental design and analysis software.
• Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot responsibly for problem solving and productivity.
