E-Core CPU Design Automation Engineer

Location: Penang, Malaysia; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work

hirify.global develops computing technologies, including high-performance and power-efficient E-core CPUs for laptops, desktops, gaming platforms, 5G infrastructure, AI devices, and Chromebooks.

What you will do

• Develop, debug, and support backend physical design tools, flows, and methodologies for high-performance blocks and full-chip designs.
• Automate RTL-to-GDS standard-cell design flows and analyze synthesis, floor planning, place-and-route, and signoff processes.
• Investigate timing paths, static timing analysis, formal equivalence, power consumption, electrical rule checking, and circuit reliability issues.
• Collaborate with CPU design teams and EDA vendors to debug constraints, improve tool capabilities, and support high-speed, low-power CPU design.
• Create documentation and design guidelines while communicating solutions through completion.
• Use AI capabilities to improve operational efficiency and design productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or a master's degree in one of these fields.
• At least 1 year of experience in VLSI, design automation algorithms, or transistor-level design.
• Experience with industry-standard EDA VLSI tools and flows from vendors such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.
• Experience with Python, Perl, or Tcl scripting.
• Relevant backend design experience in microprocessors or other high-speed designs.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with timing closure for worst-case corners, including STA, statistical variation analysis, SPICE simulation, ERC, noise and crosstalk analysis, OCV effects, and budget constraints.
