Design Engineer (FPGA)

Location: Penang, Malaysia. Successful background and reference checks are required, along with proof of the right to work in Malaysia.

What you will do

• Integrate and validate FPGA-based specifications and components across connectivity and embedded designs.
• Partner with hardware, software, and firmware developers on system design integration and interoperability.
• Plan test coverage and execute system bring-up, interoperability testing, and validation activities.
• Debug issues across the hardware, software, and firmware stack and identify root causes from test data.
• Document design decisions, interface behavior, and validation results for internal and customer-facing use.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in FPGA system integration and validation.
• Hands-on experience developing FPGA-based reference designs, with knowledge of logic verification, debug, and timing closure.
• Working knowledge of protocols including PCIe, Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, MIPI, SDI, USB, and I2C.
• Programming experience with C/C++, Perl, TCL, or Python.
• Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills are required. Ability to work independently and in a team environment is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded development tools, logic analyzers, and I2C, SPI, or USB analyzers.
• Knowledge of RISC-V systems.
