Senior Data Scientist, Finance & Strategy (FinTech)

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA; four days a week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office

Base salary: $133,000–$185,000 USD per year, with potential bonuses, equity, and benefits for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Build a company-wide view of performance by connecting member growth, engagement, product usage, and financial and operating metrics.
• Partner with Investor Relations on quarterly earnings materials, shareholder communications, and public disclosures.
• Define, reconcile, and validate metrics across data sources so externally reported results are accurate and consistent.
• Analyze trends and inflection points, identify performance drivers, and communicate findings to senior leaders.
• Partner with Corporate Strategy and cross-functional teams on high-priority strategic analyses and ambiguous business questions.
• Build reusable dbt data models and reporting for consistent, efficient answers to recurring questions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in data-focused roles delivering analyses for executive audiences.
• Strong financial acumen, including financial statements, unit economics, and investor-focused KPIs.
• Expert-level SQL and proficiency in Python for analysis.
• Experience building data models in dbt and using AI coding and analytics tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, business intuition, communication, and data storytelling skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, manage ambiguity, reprioritize quickly, and deliver accurate analyses under tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience in management consulting, investment banking, or a similar analytical role.
• Experience with public company reporting, earnings, and disclosures.
• FinTech or financial services experience.
• Experience with Hex.
