Staff Data Scientist (Fintech)

Location: Oakland, California; Charlotte, North Carolina; or San Diego, California

Base pay: $194,000–$262,500 annually in Oakland

What you will do

• Own the analytics strategy for the Connected Accounts product area, mapping the member journey from account linking and verification through engagement and value delivery.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Director-level stakeholders on roadmap and prioritization decisions.
• Apply machine learning and causal inference to problems involving link conversion, drop-off, and engagement.
• Design and run A/B/n and quasi-experiments to measure product and business impact.
• Build member segmentation for targeting, personalization, and feature relevance.
• Identify AI/ML opportunities, develop measurement plans, mentor data scientists, and contribute to hiring and calibration.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data science and analytics with demonstrated product impact.
• Experience designing and interpreting experiments and applying causal inference when testing is constrained.
• Knowledge of customer segmentation, statistical rigor, and business-focused analysis.
• Ability to build offline classification and regression models and reusable analytical frameworks.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-influence skills, including collaboration with Director-level partners.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, or a related field.

• Experience with account aggregation, fintech data connectivity, or personal financial management products.
• Fintech experience.
