Data Scientist (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $184,000–$222,000 per year, plus commission, equity, and health benefits.

What you will do

• Own the data mart and ETL pipeline that unifies disparate customer systems into a structured analytical model.
• Build and maintain AI assessments covering task decomposition, task-level AI acceleration scoring, and observed AI usage.
• Design custom and reusable analyses for customer questions and translate findings into visualizations and narratives.
• Write production Python and SQL code, orchestrate containerized analytical workloads, integrate external APIs, and contribute to product and platform codebases.
• Build internal analytical tools and improve analytical fluency across the organization.
• Set and prioritize the data science roadmap, distinguishing core product capabilities from custom work.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, applied research, or a closely related field, with evidence that analyses influenced business decisions.
• Strong programmatic thinking and production experience with Python and SQL, including architecture, abstraction, failure modes, and tradeoffs.
• Strong data modeling skills and experience with dbt, Looker, or similar transformation or semantic-layer tooling.
• Depth in machine learning, predictive analytics, NLP, text embeddings, inference, and clustering methods such as hierarchical clustering.
• Working knowledge of causal inference from observational data and quasi-experimental design.
• Ability to communicate complex methods clearly to engineers, executives, and customer stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
• Prior client-facing experience.
