Principal Engineer - Systems (Unix Systems Administrator)

Location: CO - Boulder, United States; onsite role. Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux and FreeBSD environments across bare-metal, virtualized, on-premises, and cloud infrastructure.
• Implement system hardening and mandatory access controls with SELinux, including custom security policies.
• Apply and automate DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark security baselines across production environments.
• Architect and manage secure CMMC-compliant enclaves for processing and storing Controlled Unclassified Information.
• Automate patching, configuration management, and compliance auditing using Ansible and other tools.
• Troubleshoot complex operating system, network, storage, kernel, and hypervisor issues.

Requirements

• 10+ years of enterprise systems administration experience with Linux and/or FreeBSD.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
• Practical experience with DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, SELinux, and CMMC requirements for CUI.
• Experience managing operating systems on bare-metal hardware and in scalable cloud environments.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and containerization runtimes.

Nice to have

• RHCE, RHCSA, LFCE, LFCS, CompTIA Linux+, or BSD certification.
• CISSP, CASP+, or CompTIA Security+ certification.
• AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Security Specialty, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification.
