Chief Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Adelphi, Maryland, USA; non-remote and on-site only. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $135,000–$175,000 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the senior technical advisor for enterprise infrastructure modernization, engineering, and technology strategy.
• Assess existing infrastructure, platforms, operations, and emerging technologies to identify modernization, automation, efficiency, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop technical assessments, business cases, cost-benefit analyses, modernization roadmaps, white papers, and executive presentations.
• Evaluate Windows, Linux, macOS, identity services, networking, storage, virtualization, endpoint management, cybersecurity, and cloud environments.
• Review architecture and technical solutions for feasibility, scalability, security, supportability, and operational impact.
• Support infrastructure teams with complex technical challenges and present recommendations to Government and contractor leadership.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance are required.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of experience supporting, engineering, architecting, or modernizing enterprise IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, macOS, Active Directory, identity and access management, networking, storage, virtualization, endpoint management, and cloud technologies.
• Experience with technology assessments, architecture reviews, modernization planning, technical recommendations, business cases, and executive-level briefings.
• Knowledge of automation, scripting, Infrastructure-as-Code, cybersecurity requirements, and operational efficiency practices.

Nice to have

• Active Secret Clearance and IAT Level II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE, CISSP, or CySA.
• Experience supporting DoD, Federal, research, laboratory, or scientific computing environments.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, Nutanix, VMware, Intune, MECM/SCCM, Jamf Pro, Microsoft Entra ID, or comparable enterprise technologies.
• Advanced certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, RHCE, Nutanix NCP, CCNP, VMware VCP, or ITIL.
• Experience evaluating AI-enabled operations, observability, Zero Trust, cloud, automation, and next-generation infrastructure technologies.
