Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Diego, California, with at least 4 days per week in the office; travel up to 10% may be required for U.S. and international test events.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year, with pay ranges of $90,000–$150,000 or $114,000–$184,000 depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Configure and maintain IT infrastructure supporting Naval tactical applications.
• Integrate and maintain hardware and software platforms, including customer support systems.
• Collaborate with software, systems, integration, information, production, and test engineers to understand requirements, workflows, architecture, and system features.
• Organize virtual and physical test events for software integrated with Navy combat systems, including land-based and at-sea events.
• Develop design documentation, standard operating procedures, and end-user training materials.
• Participate in requirements, configuration, design, and performance reviews while improving customer-support processes and team efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, aeronautical engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent full-time experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT production planning, network architecture, hardware optimization, platform integration, system hardening, or related infrastructure work.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls, subnetting, virtualization infrastructure, VMware, or OpenShift Virtualization.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Ability to work on site in San Diego at least 4 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD and Naval systems.
• Windows and Linux administration, Red Hat Linux, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Cisco devices, or Dell servers.
• Scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Automation tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
• Experience with networking protocols including TCP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, IP, and HTTP.
