Billing Operations Manager (SaaS)

Location: San Francisco, hybrid

Salary: $140,000–$185,000 USD annually; equity offered. USD salary ranges apply to U.S.-based positions, while international salaries are set according to the local market.

Perplexity is scaling its enterprise business and expanding its Finance and Accounting operations.

What you will do

• Own enterprise and reseller billing from customer and subscription setup through invoicing, renewals, amendments, and cancellations.
• Review nonstandard billing terms with Enterprise Sales and Deal Desk, assess operational feasibility, and route exceptions for approval.
• Configure complex billing arrangements involving seat changes, tiered discounts, prorations, co-terminations, prepaid credits, and usage billed in arrears.
• Investigate billing inquiries, disputes, discrepancies, credits, rebills, and billing system integration failures.
• Reconcile contract, subscription, usage, and billing data while supporting month-end close and audits.
• Partner with Customer Success, Enterprise Sales, and Deal Desk on renewals, expansions, true-ups, and customer billing issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of experience in billing operations, order management, order-to-cash, revenue operations, or a related finance function, including enterprise SaaS or subscription billing.
• Experience translating complex customer agreements into billing schedules, invoices, and adjustments.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, tax engines, and subscription or usage-based billing platforms.
• Working knowledge of accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition, including ASC 606.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
