Software Manager, Middleware (IoT)

Location: Hybrid in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States

Salary: $102,600–$193,425 annual base pay, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and short-term incentive eligibility

What you will do

• Manage a software engineering team responsible for myQ middleware, including web services, databases, APIs, and connected access systems.
• Plan resources, schedules, estimates, budgets, and 18-month forecasts for software engineering projects.
• Provide technical leadership for architecture, design feasibility, documentation, code branching, releases, and production-quality delivery.
• Maintain and mature continuous integration, continuous deployment, QA, and release processes across multiple platforms.
• Lead developers, architects, supervisors, and consultants through recruiting, onboarding, development, performance management, and retention.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, Scrum, architecture, backend, and engineering teams on roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent additional experience.
• At least 7 years of job-related experience, including 3 years of software development leadership experience.
• Experience developing middleware or backend IoT systems with C#, .NET, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of C#, object-oriented development, .NET 4+, SQL Server, ORM technologies such as Entity Framework, MVC, WCF, LINQ, and Web Forms.
• Knowledge of Internet protocols, web server communications, REST, JSON, Web Services, XML, AJAX, and UML-based technical documentation.
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum practices, continuous integration and deployment, project planning, estimation, and technical team leadership.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience administering and using JIRA and Confluence.
• Project management experience and the ability to run Value Stream Mapping events.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile development processes.
