Sr. Software Development Manager, Computer Backup

Location: Remote - US

Salary: $205,000–$240,000 base pay annually

What you will do

• Lead the full Computer Backup engineering organization through Desktop and Backend Leads.
• Set long-term technical direction and architecture for the cross-platform desktop client and backend services.
• Own multi-quarter delivery strategy, roadmap planning, scope, schedules, priorities, and post-launch support.
• Manage team budget, headcount, tooling, infrastructure investment, and organizational decisions.
• Oversee agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, retrospectives, and estimation.
• Improve reliability, performance, maintainability, automated test coverage, productivity, and adoption of AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering management experience, including management of managers or team leads.
• Experience setting technical direction, designing system architecture, and delivering software across desktop clients, backend services, or both.
• Experience owning multi-quarter technical and delivery strategy and partnering with product and senior leadership on roadmap decisions.
• Strong experience with agile development, Scrum ceremonies, the software development lifecycle, and automated testing practices.
• Experience managing distributed remote engineering teams with strong asynchronous communication and collaboration practices.
• Strong communication, negotiation, technical decision-making, and customer-facing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in cloud, SaaS, desktop software, or platform engineering environments.
• Familiarity with AI agentic coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
