Head of Software Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow multiple .NET development teams and the manual and automated QA/testing function.
• Own software delivery quality, engineering execution, staffing, workload allocation, and succession development.
• Champion Agile/Scrum practices, predictable release cadences, delivery metrics, code reviews, branching strategy, and release management.
• Guide the design, development, maintenance, modernization, and technical debt remediation of Azure-hosted applications and services.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools and lead the delivery of AI-driven and agentic solutions.
• Establish secure coding, application security, data protection, production support, and incident management practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including leadership of multiple development teams and/or QA/testing functions.
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET application development and Microsoft Azure-hosted systems.
• Experience with manual and automated testing, Agile/Scrum delivery, engineering metrics, and cross-functional stakeholder management.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot into software delivery.
• Strong knowledge of secure coding, SAST/DAST, CI/CD security integration, PII/PCI data protection, regulatory compliance, production support, and incident management.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Insurance or financial services industry experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, generative AI platforms, agentic frameworks, or AI-assisted testing.
• Azure or Scrum/Agile certifications.
• Experience integrating acquired businesses or platforms after mergers and acquisitions.
