Quality Engineer Electro-Mechanical Assembly (Aerospace)

Salary: $100,500–$162,000 USD annually, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Own electro-mechanical build quality across motors, harnesses, mechanisms, sub-assemblies, and final vehicle assembly.
• Respond to production-line quality issues, disposition defects, contain suspect product, and run MRB processes for nonconformances.
• Lead root cause investigations with manufacturing and engineering and verify corrective actions on the line.
• Track FPY, defect Pareto, scrap, rework, and escapes using SPC and regular build quality reviews.
• Drive in-line checks, error-proofing, design for quality, and manufacturability improvements using production defect data.
• Create inspection plans and first article inspections, review work instructions, certify inspectors, and manage measurement and calibration programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, reliability, or design engineering for electro-mechanical hardware.
• Experience with GD&T, hands-on metrology, calipers, height gauges, CMM, and visual inspection.
• Experience with electro-mechanical assembly processes including fastening and torque control, thread locking, connector mating, harness routing, potting, staking, and adhesive bonding.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for querying production databases and analyzing manufacturing and test data.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-volume electro-mechanical production, production ramps, drones, robotics, automotive, or consumer hardware.
• Knowledge of RCCA, 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone analysis, PFMEA, control plans, FAI, and SPC.
• Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, brushless motors, vibration and thermal effects, and hardware testing.
• Experience with composites, machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing, ISO 9001, or AS9100 quality systems.
• Familiarity with drones, RC aircraft, or FPV hardware.
