Location: San Jose, California, United States; fully onsite in the office five days per week. The role requires travel of up to 40% to supplier sites for audits, first article inspections, and corrective-action support. The position involves access to export-controlled information and requires eligibility under applicable U.S. export regulations.
Salary: $139,000–$157,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.
Company
designs, builds, and operates low-Earth-orbit satellite constellations and provides integrated spacecraft manufacturing and mission data services.
What you will do
- Plan and perform inspection, integration, testing, dimensional inspection, and mechanical fit checks for satellite components and assemblies.
- Lead nonconformance investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and related tracking systems.
- Build and maintain the Quality Management System, including specifications, workmanship standards, work instructions, inspection records, test reports, and audit documentation.
- Improve inspection, nonconformance management, and mechanical assembly processes using quality and test data.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to resolve quality issues and provide training on GD&T, inspection criteria, and quality procedures.
- Plan and conduct supplier audits and work with suppliers to address process gaps and nonconformances.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T under ASME Y14.5 and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with dimensional inspection equipment and methods, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical or laser scanning.
- Knowledge of quality methods, GMP, part and document control, defect management, MES, PLM, AS9100, and ISO 9001.
- Must be eligible to access export-controlled information under applicable U.S. Government regulations.
