TL;DR
Space Force Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and deploying a state-of-the-art ground operational system for the SDA GMI program with an accent on system architecture, requirements decomposition, satellite mission operations, and cloud-based software design. Focus on translating customer requirements into end-to-end designs, coordinating interfaces and test cases, and integrating ground-to-satellite communications and mission data systems.

Location: Remote, on-site, or hybrid; on-site work is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $124,397–$138,003 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and deploy a ground operational system for the SDA GMI program.
  • Translate customer, mission partner, and stakeholder requirements into robust system designs.
  • Decompose end-to-end system requirements into architectures, interfaces, designs, and test cases.
  • Coordinate with software developers and integration and test teams to align component development with mission needs.
  • Provide technical leadership across the systems development life cycle and support process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or a related science, engineering, or mathematics field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance are required.
  • Experience with systems engineering, requirements decomposition, architecture, interfaces, and system design.
  • Knowledge of ground systems, satellite tracking and mission design, satellite communications, or ground-to-satellite data transport.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, software or systems engineering, and microservice architecture.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw and programming languages including Java, Python, or MATLAB.

Nice to have

  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools such as STK in aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of satellite and payload scheduling, situational awareness, or infrared payload tracking.
  • Experience applying AI to continuous improvement and innovation.
