Senior Dynamics Analysis Engineer (Spacecraft Structural Dynamics)

Location: Hybrid work near Centennial, Colorado or Long Beach, California; some work must be performed on site.

Base salary: $135,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and validate finite element models for spacecraft mechanism and actuation system components and assemblies.
• Perform modal, frequency response, random vibration, shock response, and quasi-static load analyses across launch and on-orbit environments.
• Build mechanism-level disturbance models, including jitter and vibration budgets, and assess effects on pointing stability and spacecraft performance.
• Define and support modal survey, sine sweep, random vibration, and shock test campaigns, correlating FEM predictions with test data.
• Translate analysis results into design recommendations, margin assessments, trade-study inputs, and qualification support.
• Document analysis and test correlation results, mentor junior engineers, and improve structural dynamics processes and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of professional experience in structural dynamics analysis for aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability applications.
• Proficiency with structural dynamics FEA tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, or equivalent.
• Experience with modal analysis, random vibration, shock response spectrum, frequency response, launch vehicle interfaces, and coupled loads analysis.
• Experience supporting dynamic environmental tests and correlating test results with FEM predictions.
• Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance and satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with spacecraft mechanism or actuation dynamics, jitter analysis, and disturbance budgeting for precision pointing.
• Familiarity with GNC interfaces, attitude-control impacts, coupled loads analysis, and launch vehicle ICD compliance.
• Knowledge of fatigue and fracture mechanics, model updating, and test-analysis correlation methods.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for post-processing and analysis automation.
• Startup experience or experience in a similarly dynamic environment.
