Staff Software Engineer - FE (React)

Salary: $202,500–$274,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for the Mailchimp Forms frontend platform, including micro-frontend boundaries, module federation, composition, versioning, rollback, and migration from legacy rendering paths.
• Own schema contracts, validation, versioning, backward compatibility, and the renderer for accessible and performant dynamic forms.
• Drive client-side operational excellence through SLOs, error budgets, real-user monitoring, Core Web Vitals, telemetry, alerting, and blameless postmortems.
• Lead the full engineering lifecycle from scoping and design through implementation, testing, rollout, documentation, and maintenance.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, pairing, architecture guidance, and contributions to the design system.
• Share production ownership and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing and implementing large-scale frontend architectures.
• Production experience building or substantially evolving micro-frontend architectures, including independently deployable frontends, shared runtimes, cross-team contracts, isolation, and versioning.
• Deep expertise in schema-driven or configuration-driven UI, JSON Schema or equivalent contract languages, dynamic form rendering, declarative validation, schema evolution, and code generation.
• Strong software engineering and operational excellence fundamentals, including testing, CI/CD, progressive delivery, feature flags, observability, and incident response.
• Fluency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript, experience with a major component framework such as React, and deep knowledge of browser rendering, bundle size, hydration, and third-party embedding constraints.
• Experience with accessibility, design systems, technical writing, cross-team decision-making, and distributed collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with widgets or SDKs embedded in third-party sites.
• Experience with large-scale monolith-to-modular migrations, edge rendering, or design-system stewardship across multiple consuming teams.
