Frontend Engineer (Data Visualization)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Denver/Boulder, Philadelphia, Santa Cruz, or Seattle; remote work is available for candidates based near one of hirify.global's engineering hubs. Final-round interviews are conducted in person.

Base salary: $160K–$250K plus equity.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction and long-term vision for data visualization capabilities.
• Partner with the Product Manager and engineering team to turn visualization strategy into shipped features.
• Design and build frontend visualization components and the data pipelines that power them.
• Improve visualization quality and performance using industry best practices.
• Mentor and technically guide engineers working on the visualization stream.
• Ship iteratively, incorporate customer feedback, and use AI coding tools to increase development velocity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years operating at a senior level.
• Deep, demonstrable experience in data visualization, supported by shipped work, a strong portfolio, or industry recognition.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience with data or business intelligence tools such as SQL, Looker, Tableau, Mode, Amplitude, or Google Analytics.
• Ability to set technical vision and influence a team without formal authority.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools and workflows such as Claude Code or Cursor.

Nice to have

• Startup experience or experience building data products.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Background in data visualization research or academic work.
• Experience with React, Remix, Kotlin, Java, AWS, Vega, Vega-Lite, or ECharts.
