Director, SOX Infrastructure

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Lead financial risk assessment and SOX control design for compute and infrastructure accounting, including cloud spend, accruals, vendor commitments, cost allocation, and asset lifecycle management.
• Own scoping, walkthroughs, testing, remediation, reporting, and the SOX roadmap for compute and infrastructure processes.
• Build scalable automated controls, including usage-to-invoice matching, continuous monitoring, anomaly detection, and telemetry-based accrual validation.
• Design controls over high-volume financial data pipelines, allocation models, key reports, IPE, general-ledger mapping, and monthly close governance.
• Assess cloud provider reliance through SOC reports, complementary user entity controls, bridge letters, and alternative procedures.
• Partner with accounting, finance, procurement, infrastructure engineering, IT SOX, and external auditors while training control owners and supporting ICFR assessments.

Requirements

• Experience designing controls over cloud, compute, infrastructure costs, or comparable high-volume usage-based processes.
• Experience establishing or scaling SOX controls at pre-IPO or newly public companies.
• Deep knowledge of compute accruals, vendor commitments, cost allocation, financial close, and US GAAP.
• Experience evaluating SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports and complementary user entity controls.
• Comfort working with large datasets, data pipelines, and engineering or data science teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, business administration, IT, or engineering.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of SOX, internal audit, or internal controls experience, including Big 4 and in-house technology roles.
• CPA, CISA, or similar certification.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure billing, SQL, cost-of-revenue controls, and allocation methodologies.
• Experience applying AI or ML to audit, compliance, or risk management.
• Knowledge of ASC 842, ICFR, SEC disclosures, and high-growth AI or technology companies.
