Etch Associate Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship (Days) (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Malta, New York, United States; onsite at the Fab 8 semiconductor manufacturing facility

Expected salary: $36,200–$59,200 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Monitor, control, test, and sustain semiconductor manufacturing equipment and assigned tool sets.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to operating procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using mechanical, electronic, computer, and software skills.
• Recover equipment from process interruptions and document events and shift handoffs.
• Work with production team members, area engineers, and lead technicians to communicate equipment status.
• Complete four HVCC college courses and 2,700 hours of on-the-job training during the 18–24 month apprenticeship.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience is required.
• English fluency required for written and verbal communication.
• Basic reading, writing, computer navigation, Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook skills.
• Ability to work onsite in a cleanroom for extended periods and wear required cleanroom clothing and personal protective equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, use hand tools, and work around equipment during 12-hour shifts; lifting over 50 pounds requires a two-person lift.
• Willingness to work alternating day or night shifts, including 12-hour shifts three to four days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, or electrical work.
• Experience with hand tools, schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams, structured troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience reviewing statistical process control charts and participating in continuous improvement projects.
