TL;DR
Spacecraft Structural Engineer II (Aerospace): Designing and validating spacecraft and space-system structures through structural analysis, simulations, test definition, and flight-data interpretation with an accent on finite element verification, dynamic environments, and mass optimization. Focus on defining structural loads, solving static, modal, vibration, buckling, and thermoelastic problems, and demonstrating positive margins through testing.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters. The role involves work with vehicle testing, production areas, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes.

Base salary: $100,800–$138,600 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $110,875–$156,225 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, payloads, and critical spaceflight subsystems for commercial, scientific, and national-security missions.

What you will do

  • Define, process, and interpret static and dynamic ground-test and flight data, including sensor selection, data acquisition, validation, and environmental determination.
  • Perform and document structural analyses of primary and secondary vehicle structures, including finite element model verification, material selection, trade studies, and mass optimization.
  • Run static, modal, random-vibration, buckling, and thermoelastic simulations.
  • Work with design and test engineers to iterate concepts, define test requirements, and demonstrate positive structural margins.
  • Support testing of vehicle subsystems and components and lead technical projects across analysis and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Implement new analytical methods and tools while establishing technical best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • At least 2 years of structural analysis experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with NX Nastran, NX CAD, and Teamcenter.
  • U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR-related authorization and work-eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience analyzing additive-manufactured parts or composite structures.
  • Experience with sensor selection, data post-processing, and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with nonlinear material simulation and spacecraft-level structural test campaigns.

Culture & Benefits

  • Employee stock as part of total compensation and an Employee Stock Purchase Program with a 15% discount.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including HMO, PPO, and a zero-cost HDHP option with HSA contribution.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, holidays, parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment focused on innovation, teamwork, tight deadlines, and ambitious space missions.
  • Additional perks include subsidized EV charging, fitness and gym benefits, snacks and beverages, and employee discounts.
