Senior Staff Structural Analyst (Spacecraft Engineering)

Location: Onsite in Louisville, Colorado, or San Francisco, California, United States. Travel up to 10% domestically or internationally. U.S. person or applicable U.S. export-control authorization required under ITAR.

Salary: $192,979–$276,722 USD base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform structural analyses for spacecraft, payloads, and ground support hardware across static, dynamic, thermal, nonlinear, buckling, fatigue, and fracture conditions.
• Develop, correlate, and maintain high-fidelity finite element models using NASTRAN and pre/post-processing tools.
• Generate launch-environment loads, vibration, shock, acoustic, and thermal limits for component design and qualification testing.
• Develop and deliver Craig-Bampton reduced-order models for integrated vehicle dynamic analyses and launch-service-provider interfaces.
• Provide structural recommendations for trade studies and improve designs for strength, stiffness, weight, manufacturability, and cost.
• Support design reviews, qualification and acceptance testing, anomaly investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of structural analysis experience supporting aerospace or spaceflight hardware.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural dynamics, aerospace structural design, launch environments, coupled loads, vibration, shock, and acoustic loading.
• Experience analyzing metallic and composite structures using classical calculations, FEA, and computer-aided methods.
• Experience generating and correlating Craig-Bampton reduced-order models; proficiency with NASTRAN and tools such as HyperMesh, Patran, or FEMAP.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee/asylee, or eligible applicant able to obtain required authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, and structural model delivery to providers such as SpaceX.
• Experience correlating analytical models with qualification and flight-test data.
• Experience with additively manufactured structures and NASA, DoD, ESA, or commercial space verification requirements.
• Experience with ANSYS, Adams, NASGRO, ABAQUS, SolidWorks, Python, MATLAB, or ARAS.
