Senior Dynamics and Loads Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Playa Vista, California; in-person five days per week. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Salary: $170,000–$225,000 annual salary, plus performance-based bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Own vehicle loads, structural dynamics, and multibody dynamics analyses from early architecture through hardware realization.
• Define dynamic environments and load cases for launch, separation, heatshield deployment, hypersonic reentry, descent, landing, refurbishment, and reflight.
• Translate analysis results into design requirements, sizing inputs, interface loads, and architecture decisions with design and hardware teams.
• Develop structural dynamics and multibody models, including modal characterization, transient response, deployment behavior, and dynamic load prediction.
• Drive trade studies, fatigue and durability assessments, and multi-mission load spectra for reusable flight hardware.
• Define test objectives and instrumentation, correlate simulations with test and flight data, and present technical risks and recommendations in design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in loads, structural dynamics, multibody dynamics, or related analysis for aerospace, defense, or similarly demanding systems.
• Strong fundamentals in rigid-body dynamics, structural dynamics, vibration, transient response, and mechanical system behavior.
• Experience with mechanical loads, dynamic environments, and coupled loads analysis with launch vehicle providers, including Craig-Bampton methods.
• Experience with finite element tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN, or FEMAP, and multibody tools such as ANSYS Motion, Adams, RecurDyn, Simpack, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with design, structures, manufacturing, and test teams and communicate technical findings clearly.

Nice to have

• Active U.S. Government Security Clearance.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with deployment mechanisms, separation systems, landing systems, payload delivery systems, or qualified flight hardware.
• Experience with reusable flight hardware fatigue and durability analysis, test correlation, and post-test analysis.
• Python or MATLAB scripting experience for analysis automation and data post-processing.
