Текст:
TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer, Stress Analysis (Aerospace): Performing structural analysis and designing airframe, gondola, equipment mount, and joint structures for lighter-than-air aerospace vehicles with an accent on FEA modeling, hand calculations, CAD, and test correlation. Focus on analyzing static, buckling, and modal behavior, resolving structural issues, and balancing weight, strength, manufacturability, and cost in prototype hardware.
Location: On-site in Sunnyvale, California, United States
Salary: $150,000–$190,000 per year
Company
develops lighter-than-air aerospace technology with a humanitarian mission and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
What you will do
- Perform static, buckling, modal, and joint structural analysis for airframe, gondola, and equipment mount structures using FEA tools.
- Develop finite element models, generate meshes, set up load cases, post-process results, and verify findings with hand calculations.
- Design and size structural components and assemblies from concept sketches through detailed CAD.
- Correlate analytical models with static load tests, modal surveys, and ground vibration testing.
- Support design trade studies, prototype fabrication and testing, and investigations of structural issues.
- Document methodologies, assumptions, results, and engineering recommendations in formal reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of relevant structural design or analysis experience.
- Hands-on experience with FEA software such as FEMAP, Nastran, ANSYS, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of static strength, buckling, and modal or dynamic analysis, plus proficiency with 3D CAD.
- Experience with bolted, bonded, or welded joint analysis and scripting with Python, MATLAB, or VBA.
- Must be able to work on-site in Sunnyvale, California, and obtain a NASA Moffett Federal Airfield AOA Badge.
Nice to have
- Experience with lighter-than-air, aerospace, weight-critical, composite, or low-volume prototype structures.
- Experience correlating FEA models with physical test data and conducting modal or vibration analysis.
- Experience with fatigue analysis, life prediction, GD&T, and manufacturing drawing standards.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Culture & Benefits
- Relocation assistance is available.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus company-paid life and disability insurance.
- Generous PTO, 10 paid holidays, parental leave, and 401(k) matching up to 6%.
- Daily lunch and snacks, wellness and cell phone stipends, and an annual education stipend.
- Collaborative multidisciplinary environment with prototype hardware, events, and opportunities to work on aviation technology.
