Director, Emergency Preparedness (Emergency Management)

Location: Remote within the United States; nationwide travel by air and vehicle required, up to 50%.

Salary: $158,819–$269,993 annually.

What you will do

• Lead all-hazards emergency operations planning, continuity planning, crisis communications, EOC procedures, SOPs, annexes, and field guides.
• Direct multi-year preparedness, training, and HSEEP-aligned exercise programs, including seminars, drills, tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises.
• Oversee exercise design, evaluation, after-action reporting, improvement plans, and corrective-action tracking.
• Manage portfolio delivery across clients, project teams, staffing, schedules, budgets, contracts, compliance, quality, and risk.
• Provide leadership or advisory support during EOC activations and incident response operations using ICS and NIMS.
• Develop client relationships, support proposals and captures, expand existing accounts, and contribute to growth strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration, homeland security, public health, environmental science, business, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of combined emergency management and FEMA-related experience, including 3 years in a leadership or client-facing role.
• At least 3 years managing multiple clients, projects, project managers, or multidisciplinary teams.
• At least 3 years of experience developing, implementing, or validating emergency operations plans, continuity plans, annexes, procedures, or emergency management programs.
• At least 3 years of experience in emergency planning, preparedness, EOC activations, incident management, training, or exercises, plus project or program budget and delivery management.
• Valid current U.S. driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check required.

Nice to have

• Master's degree, Certified Emergency Manager certification, or experience leading comprehensive all-hazards preparedness programs.
• Advanced knowledge of FEMA CPG 101, HSEEP, EOPs, ESF and hazard-specific annexes, COOP/COG plans, and corrective-action programs.
• Experience with preparedness grants, accreditation, audit readiness, task-order contracts, or public-sector account growth.
• Preferred training includes ICS-100 through ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, FEMA HSEEP, Continuity Excellence Series, PMP, or FEMA Professional Development Series.
