What you will do

• Own availability, performance, recoverability, incident coverage, and operational standards across a large multi-engine database estate.
• Set technical direction and guide engineers across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Aurora, Snowflake, MongoDB, and Pinecone workloads.
• Build custom tooling and self-service capabilities, using AI to improve observability and operational scale.
• Lead modernization programs, including version migrations, cross-engine consolidation, and disaster-recovery improvements.
• Manage enterprise licensing, storage right-sizing, cost-to-serve, KPIs, and engineering accountability.
• Coach the team, set expectations, conduct performance conversations, and partner with data platform, architecture, and product teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with at least 6 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with 4+ years of experience.
• 1–2 years of experience managing and developing employees.
• Deep SQL Server expertise at scale, including Always On availability groups, multi-region high availability and disaster recovery, performance troubleshooting, and enterprise licensing economics.
• Experience leading engineers across relational, analytical, non-relational, and specialized database technologies.
• Strong AWS expertise, especially operating database workloads primarily on EC2, with attention to cloud cost; Azure knowledge is useful.
• Fluent written and oral English and authorization to work for any employer in the United States are required. Visa sponsorship is not available.
