Manager, Engineering (Software Engineering)

What you will do

• Lead, grow, hire, and retain full-stack and backend engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Design architecture for distributed platforms supporting PreQual, credit pull, pricing, incentives, and funding workflows.
• Own major initiatives from system design through production readiness and operational support.
• Drive scalable, fault-tolerant microservices and API-first, event-driven integrations across dealer portals, origination systems, pricing engines, and downstream consumers.
• Establish standards for APIs, observability, resiliency, security, cloud practices, and operational excellence.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leadership, mentor engineers, support team scaling, and promote AI-assisted engineering tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership experience on large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architectures.
• Experience deploying cloud-native applications on AWS, including ECS, Fargate, IAM, and VPC.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, credit bureaus, fraud services, third-party data providers, observability, and operational excellence.
• Must have the right to work in the United States and must not require Toyota immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience in automotive or financial services ecosystems, especially dealer-centric platforms.
• Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock or AI/ML integrations.
• Experience with platform modernization, large-scale transformations, and combined technical and people leadership.
