Intermediate Software Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: San Diego, California or Vancouver, British Columbia; hybrid with three days per week in the office

Salary: US$100,000–US$130,000 or CA$90,000–CA$115,000 annually

What you will do

• Build and ship agent capabilities, including Vertex AI-based Discovery Agents, across design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Harden proof-of-concept agent code into production-grade systems with robust error handling, observability, testing, cost control, and latency optimization.
• Design test cases and evaluation checks for non-deterministic agent behavior.
• Build and maintain AWS-based data ingestion and pipelines that feed AI agents.
• Partner with Product and senior engineers to translate business requirements into shipped features.
• Support production AI services through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and responsible use of AI tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of software engineering or development experience.
• Strong foundation in Python or another backend language, with the ability to write clean, readable, and testable code.
• Working knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases and basic REST API design.
• Experience with AWS and exposure to data pipeline tools such as PySpark or Airflow.
• Experience building an LLM project involving tool or function calls, chained steps, or multi-step coordination, plus routine use and verification of AI coding assistants.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Apache Airflow, Dagster, Spark, Presto/Trino, or Hive.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Interest or coursework in identity verification, fraud, security, or fintech.
