Advanced Software Engineer - AI Platform

Location: Illinois, United States; hybrid/remote

Salary: $103,000–$155,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus, long-term incentives, and equity program

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate secure, distributed, scalable full-stack cloud services processing petabytes of data weekly.
• Build performant and accessible user interfaces, backend services, and data pipelines.
• Develop clean, testable, and maintainable code using modern tooling and CI/CD.
• Build tools and infrastructure for the AI Platform’s Experimentation Infrastructure team to accelerate experimentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design partners on AI-powered legal data solutions.
• Contribute to code reviews, service ownership, observability, on-call rotations, and incident response.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with APIs, event-driven architecture, and data platforms.
• Experience developing cloud-based distributed services.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using modern tooling and CI/CD.
• Security- and reliability-focused approach with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with technologies such as Python, Docker, Azure, Kubernetes, Databricks, MLflow, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance or cost optimization.
• Familiarity with AI development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
